Fed: Wood Royal Commission was corrupt: ex-cop
A federal parliamentary inquiry will be told tomorrow that the 1996 Wood Royal Commissioninto police corruption in NSW was itself corrupt, fabricating evidence and intimidatingwitnesses.
Former New South Wales homicide detective and National Crime Authority investigatorMICK MCGANN says the commission used corrupt tactics to try to convict him and severalof his colleagues.
Mr MCGANN says he'll be presenting this as evidence when the House of Representativesstanding committee on legal and constitutional affairs sits at New South Wales ParliamentHouse tomorrow.
Mr MCGANN's told radio 2GB the commission intimidated and harassed witnesses, and fabricatedevidence against them.
The ex-police officer says the commission falsified a four-page statement he was allegedto have given to investigators.
Mr MCGANN says he'll also be giving second-hand evidence about allegations that commissioninvestigators used heroin to flush out drugtaking cops, inadvertently causing a numberof fatal overdoses.
